It doesn't look like a Crestliner but you probably know that already- I can tell by the rivet pattern on the front.
Still a cool looking boat & worth the time to restore. Smile

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the hull #.
There is no record of what they mean anyway- only the vauge memories of the old-timers; bless their hearts.
As you strip the paint, you'll fin ...

I found this motor last Saturday morning at the local marina- traded even up for a jet pump I didn't want. Yes it runs. 1957 Merc Mark 30 in original Sarasota blue.
That afternoon, I found this 1957 ...

A 1961 Mercury 50hp motor is approx 130lb.
A 2010 Evinrude 50hp ETEC (a two stroke) is 248lb.
Any modern FOUR STROKE you can name will be heavier than the ETEC.

Hope this helps. George B

If there is any doubt in your mind, I'd replace it. ("considering the age of the boat")

It will be bolted to the transom; undo the bolts & it will come right off. ("if so, how?&q; ...

I'm trying to imagine this "plug" configuration- if it's a pipe nipple (male pipe thread) with a cap on the nipple, it might be cross-threaded in there.

Here's the new transom... not cheap (by any means) but a fantastic job. The new trans is 1/4in thick aluminum welded right over top of the original.
The new height is exactly 20inches- perfect for th ...
