Took the 1960 flyingcrest out sun. Had to get a test run with it before I drag it to the northwoods next week. After almost a two year restoration I was pleased to say it not only floated but performed better than I could have hoped. It plained instantly and we recorded a top speed of 35.9 mph. And thats with no wind at our back at all. still have to install the back seat and take some pics so I can share. Also I was planning on taking it to tomahawk on wed the 29th. Is anyone planning on being there? Pics to come, Joe _________________ 1960 flying crest

Joe,
Can't wait to see pics. Was your transom 20" already or did you have to build it to that height. I have a '60 Johnson 75hp that I might put on mine eventually. Finishing the transom replacement on the '58 Explorer and hope to see water with it soon with a '58 Johnson Super Seahorse 35 hp.. I'd like to hook up to take a look at your boat before you head north and to see how your resto turned out.

PS Did you ever get a drain plug at Basa's Marina? I drove about an hour each way to get one after calling first to be sure they had them in stock, only to be told "Nope, we don't got 'em." Sure ticked me off. They said they had gotten a call from a guy named Joe with a Flying Crest. I assume it was you. LMK _________________ '58 Commodore Speedster
