What can I expect performance wise from my Commodore 14' 810 speedster?
Keep in mind, I know this is not a jet boat. This boat is to be a family/fishing boat. The last boat was a 12' SeaKing rowboat with a '54 7.5, it was only good for fishing
The engine for my crestliner is a '58 BigTwin 35, the boat will have steering.
What kind of speed can I expect and can this set up really pull a skier?
I am still a ways off from getting this boat in the water. I'm just hoping it will do what I want it to do.
TIA,
Steve |

I used to pull a skier behind my 13.5' Thompson speedster with only a tired 25 hp Johnson. You should have no trouble. _________________ Picking up where I left off at sixteen.

Some speed numbers for your 14' Crestliner:
When I had a '59 Evinrude 35hp with a 14" prop on my Jetstreak, the top speed was about 28.5 mph according to a GPS.
With a 2004 Johnson 30hp 2-stroke it got up to 32mph.
Runs about 27mph now with the new Tohatsu 20hp 4-stroke. _________________ 1958/9 14' Crestliner Jetstreak |

My boat is a 1958 810 and I run a 1958 big 35 on it, pulls up skiers no problem, and thats at about 4,000 feet in elevation here in Idaho. Down at sea level, I run with the big boys.

If it's propped right, and the trim pin is set right, and it's not loaded heavy to the rear (like put one or two people in front and nobody in back) you should be able to pull 2 skiers out of the water with it. I'm not sure just what effect your elevation will have, but the carb high speed adjustment may likely have a different optimum setting.
One or two notches lower on the trim pin can be like shifting to a lower gear when it comes to pulling up skiers, so try a couple different settings.
