Just in case you missed it elsewhere... We are the lucky new owners of Jason's Vagabond 440! He did an excellent job of restoration, and we love the old "girl." We haven't named her yet, just in case we can find out her old name, so any suggestions would be nice. We have been out on the water twice with her, and she purrs like a kitten with a Chrysler 105. Even pulled my "little boy" who is 6'11" and weights in around 280, on a tube. We look forward to many more years of great fun with her on the water and also on some of the projects that Jason left for us.

I bought this boat this spring, from an elderly gentleman who had owned it since 1964.  He was a great guy that was very proud of his boat, but physically could not use it anymore.  When I was done hooking up to it, he told me that he was a very honest individual, and that he knew where I lived.  If I did anything he did not approve of when working on this boat, he would let me know.  He said he would check on me from time to time to see how I progressed.

The boat is a 1958 Crestliner Vagabond 440 from the information I received.   The serial number is 5. Almost everything on the boat is original with the exception of the engine.  It has a 105 horsepower Chrysler motor on it that seems to push it right along at about 25 to 28 knots.  I stripped the old nasty paint off of it, and repainted, but cannot brag about the quality of my job, as this is the first time I have painted a boat.  Maybe in the future I will repaint it and have it done professionally.  Not enough money.  I did not do a perfect job, but the boat is very usable, and I have put it through its paces on the Missouri river catfishing.  It gets many comments, and most boats seem to get out of the way.  It is fully equipped with sink, icebox, toilet, and table and has provided a lot of enjoyment.

I
find it hard to believe that this is the only one out there, so if anyone knows of another or has more information on this boat, please let me know.  My number is 402 682 5562

Thank you for your help.
