Project 14' 1959 Voyager? |
Crestliner Voyager from 1959 Crestliner catalog |
| 4/03 Dennis and Pam, I Emailed you some time ago looking for a Crestliner and mentioned that I had grown up in the fifties with many new Crestliner demonstrators parked in our front yard every summer. Well, in going through some old family photos I found these two of my father taking delivery at the factory. Hope you find them interesting. Gates Motor Supply was my father's business in Independence, Iowa. The sporting goods/marina end of the company sold Crestliners, Evinrudes and Gator trailers thru the fifties and sixties and sold them very successfully. Virtually every new boat on the Wapsipinicon River during those years was a 12 or 14 foot Crestliner with an Evinrude l8 or 35 horse. I Tried to read the license plate but couldnt. But as new as dad's l951 Chevy looks, it must be the early to mid fifties. Thats dad, Jack Gates, in the hat and, I guess, a Crestliner rep in the photos taken at the factory. If I run across others I will send them. Thanks for the website its been a great help. Steve Gates |
