1954 Larson 14' 6" Commodore
Restored by Bruce Emrick

4/22/03 (newer items are listed first)

Attached are some final pics. I think after looking at the catalog that this might
be the Commodore model since it has the 3 braces along the back transom.
From the catalog diagram the Commodore had 3 the Seaman had only 1. Let me
know what you think.

Anyway she went on a maiden voyage Monday and performed admirally. The
motor in the pics is a 1969 Johnson 9.5 that started on the second pull
after being in storage for 10 years. I can't wait to get out perching
now!!!

Thanks again for all your help!!

Sincerely ,
Bruce Emrick

4/03

Thanks for putting your boat pics up on the web! After I found them I was
motivated to rebuild a 1954 Larson 14 (14' 6" exactly and '54 Larson is on
the title) that I had sitting behind a shed for the last ten years.

I had bought the boat when I moved to my present house in 1990. It was
pretty beat up when I bought it, but it was great for perching and spring
walleye along shoreline here on Lake Erie.

After a few years the wood trim had rotted to the point that needed to be
replaced, so I did what all good fishermen with some disposable income do--
I bought a bigger boat and retired the Larson to the spot behind a shed at
the back of my property.

One night while cruising the web I looked into what it might be worth and
came across your website. Within a few days I pulled it up front and tore
all the trim and hardware off. We sandblasted it, patched a few pinholes
from deteriation and started to refit the boat. Below I have included some
pictures of the work. I will send some final pics when it is done in a week
or so, as we are now varnishing all the trim. I am really looking forward
to taking this out in a few weeks for a new "maiden" voyage. Here is a list
of all we did:

1. stripped the boat and sandblasted
2. Cut and fit all trim (poplar)
3. Cut and fit all seats (poplar)
4. Sand , sand sand
5. Trilux paint on bottom, easpoxy white on sides
6. No skid on inside bottom
7. Polyurethane on trim

Now to finish the poly and do a few touchups, and then mount seats.
Thanks again and here are some photos

Last photos are of the demo job...

Sincerely,

Bruce Emrick
