This is a 1967 Sea Scout that i purchased last August. I got the boat and trailer for $350! I've begun the restoration process, and will be painting the hull and replacing the windshield this spring. I'll post more photos when I continue in April or May.

This is my new (old) motor! It's a 1966 40 hp Evinrude Big Twin (not a Lark 10). The guy who sold it to me threw in the Lark 10 cover because it's in much better shape than the original cover, which is shown here resting next to the trash in the back of my boat. I'm hoping to pick up another original cover someday to replace the Lark 10 cover, but for now I figure it's alright. Another modification is the white shaft extension. I needed a long shaft motor, but this one was a short. All the guy had was white, so... Looks a little pieced together right now, but it is only a year shy of the year that my boat was produced. I think it's a good fit. Most importantly, it was tuned up before I bought it and runs great!
More soon as I replace the floors, windshield, and paint!

July 4, 2007

Progress is slower than I had imagined, but I've got the first coat of paint on! I lightly sanded the original, faded paint, primed in places where I had bare aluminum, and brushed and rolled on a high-gloss exterior enamel. I brought home about 100 color samples, and found what I think is a dead-on match. It's looking pretty good.

I also sanded the hood of the motor, so I'll be priming and painting that white. I found a place online that would match the original Evinrude decals. Then it's on to the flooring! You can see I scrubbed the bottom out. What a mess that was.
