This is my 1964 Gig the 1st photo is from approximately
1980 in Ocean City , NJ We currently own a first year Mako 17 restored
with the serial number of 398.
I really liked it but parts for the engine became a problem. I sold
the boat in 1998 it was last in Ocean City NJ. The history of the
boat is interesting. The folklore is that it was originally a Florida
Patrol boat. Then sold to the head of the NJ prison system at the
time . That sale generated an interesting registration number NJ 2
Z when all other boats had a 4 digit numerical center. I understood
it was due to the original NJ owner and his status in the State Gov't.
It was a neat old boat and I enjoyed it greatly. I live in the New
York Finger Lakes today and wish I had kept it. It had the seacocks
and the fittings for the optional marine head but the unit itself
was not installed.
I would like to join the forum as it would be fun. I have great memories
to share about this boat.
