Tomahawk Mini Nationals Boat Show - 2002
Introduction by Dave Roxin
|
Tomahawk is a meet put on by the North Woods Chapter of the AOMCI. It has been referred to as the MINI Nationals of the AOMCI as it has such
a large following.
Every year the AOMCI has a national convention in different areas of the
US. Tomahawk has just grown on its own to be a super meet. It is always the
1st weekend of August and runs from Wed through Saturday with a Banquet Saturday
evening. This is where the prizes are given out etc.
Tomahawk is a very beautiful area of Wisconsin. It is about 35 miles
north of Wausau Wis and is in the heart of lake country. Beautiful fir
trees etc. It is about a 3 hour drive from the cities and just a very convenient
place for anybody from the Northwest.

Tomahawk Notes 2002
If a person really likes motors, this is the place to find
them. All the people were really nice there & there were some really nice
boats also. It was nice to see the hydro boats on the Wisconsin River, a nice
setting. You could spend a whole day there easily. If you are
looking for Mercury motors & others, this is the place to be.
~ Dennis Matson
What a wonderful setting for a boat & motor show! The show arena is near an old airport runway that was perfect for selling
boats & motors. Right across the runway was the Wisconsin River, a
great place to relax & watch the hydro races. Although we only were there
Friday, the trek from Duluth was a worthwhile one. Besides
admiring the show displays & looking at items for sale, I enjoyed
meeting the people that have been either
part of the Retro Crestliner site or that own Crestliners: Dave
& Linda Roxin, Jeff Dodge, Leonard Polak, Bob Peterson & Bob
Severson. At one of the sales booths,
we found some new, old stock
windshields that viewers may be interested in ( see Sellers
page) & some Crestliners for sale, one a 1959 Flying
Crest is now listed on our Crestliners for Sale
page. Thanks to Bob Dalle Ave , Tomahawk
Mini Ntls organizer, for displaying our Retro Crestliner cards at the
show.
Tomahawk participants, please send any info or names that you
would like to add to any of the photos I've included on this site. Due
to limited time, I was unable to record details & photographed just a
sampling of all that was there.
I hope the photos are good memories for
those that attended & inspire more to attend next year. (See
info below ) ~ Pamela Matson
