Tomahawk Mini Nationals Boat Show - 2001

Introduction by Dave Roxin

Tomahawk is a meet put on by the North Woods Chapter of the AOMCI. It has been referred to as the MINI Nationals of the AOMCI as it has such a large following.  This year at the banquet it got referred to as the Super Nationals as it had such a large number of vendors selling anything connected with motors and boating.

Every year the AOMCI has a national convention in different areas of the US. Tomahawk has just grown on its own to be a super meet. It is always the 1st weekend of August and runs from Wed through Saturday with a Banquet Saturday evening.  This is where the prizes are given out etc.

The display of boats and motors and boat and motor combos like mine was the biggest I have ever seen.  Tomahawk had the nationals two years ago and in talking to people who go there year after year, this year was just as great as the nationals.

Tomahawk is a very beautiful area of Wisconsin.  It is about 35 miles north of Wausau Wis and is in the heart of lake country.  Beautiful fir trees etc. It is about a 3 hour drive from the cities and just a very convenient place for anybody from the Northwest.  We had guys form as far away as Florida, California, Georgia, Washington.  In fact the guys that sat by us at the banquet were from these areas and thought it one of the best shows they had seen.

Last year the nationals were at Florida, and do not know where this year, but if you live in the Midwest this is the place to go.
