Happy New Year!!! A 1958 Crestliner Jetstreak in progress sent by Claude Jester. He has a good helper and his own buffing business to do the job right! Take a look at:

I notice that you still have the original Zolatone paint on the dash. The brochure says that it is the Hamlet Black. I am vey interested if there are any other color specs besides white in the paint. My Flying Crest also had Hamlet Black paint with a majority of white specs in it but there were also tiny flecks of green in it.
You can still buy the original Zolatone paint at http://www.zolatoneaim.com I have a buddy that restores Airstream travel trailers and he put me on to this site. There is nothing like the real thing when it is applied correctly. The trick is to not spray it on with too high a pressure so the paint flecks are not pulverized when applied. My brother in-law did this on his Flying Crest and the white specs in the paint turned out too small - kind of like the Walmart fleck paint you can get in a spray can. The way Crestliner applied the paint originally was perfect with large bubbly paint flecks. |

Great to see another Jetstreak starting a restoration. That's the same color that ours originally was. Have to keep us supplied with photos as you progress. _________________ 1959 14' Crestliner Jetstreak |

The basic paint was not black but a light grey. My 12 footer has all original interier and it is light grey with black and white spots over it.
I don;t see any red as someone asked earlier. I know the 1st 12 footer I had had the same interior but not as nice as the one I have now. |

That's correct the paint is black, grey, and white. My paint is in good shape but the rest of the zolatone will need work. This is really a fun restoration. This is our first boat project and I am really happy about the way the aluminum will buff to a mirror finish. I will post some pictures soon after some more buffing. Love them Crestliners. _________________ 1958 Crestliner Buffing Project |

If it is possible I would like a closeup picture of the interior paint on the dash. I would like to match it with the zolatone patches that I have. My email address is [email protected]
If you could do this I owe you one.
Thanks,
Bud |
