| The first 3 digits is the model number. The rest is the serial number. |

OutbdNut,
If the 14' is model 850, as ours is, and his 12' is an 851, do we know what model the 15' Jetstreak had? _________________ 1959 14' Crestliner Jetstreak |

All three model numbers are listed in the 59' catalog on this sight.
551=12'
850=14'
752=15'
The meaning of the serial numbers is currently the only mystery. Dave Roxin is compiling a list of them to try and figure out any rhyme or reason.

This is a link to that thread where we were trying to figure out if the dash emblem on some Jetstreaks was a way to identify 58' or 59'. The placement of the deck chocks has been ruled out since all the ones found are in the same place. (For the newbies, the 58' catalog shows the chocks near the windshield, but we think this was only on prototypes and they were moved toward the bow for production.) _________________ Lee

I think I figured out what little model number meaning there is - it has to do with which number of hundreds to designate the basic hull used.
-
The 12' Commanders and the 12' Jetstreak shared the same basic hull (almost identical) from the splash rails down and are all in the 500s. The 14' Jetstreak and the 14' Commodores shared the same basic hull (almost identical) from the splash rails down, and are all in the 800s.
The 14 Voyager and 14 Viking have the same hull and are in the 700s. The 15 Voyager and 15 Buccaneer, I believe share the same hull and are in the 600s. The 17 VIking and the 17 Flying Crest may also share the same hull and are in the 1000's.
-
The only place this rule appears to fall apart is for the 15' Jetstreak, being in the 700s. Maybe it had a hull all it's own, or more likely it was a slightly stretched Viking 14 Hull which was also in the 700s.
-
Beyond that, the model number meaning is inconsistant, showing there are no hard rules. Note that all models of a given name and the same length - start with the same first digit of hundreds. For example, all Commanders are 12' and all were in the 500s, all Commodores were 14' and all in the 800s, etc. Again - same hull, same model hundreds.
Anyone see any other common threads here? |

| Last summer at tommahawk, 2006, there was a restored 15 foot jetstreak next to a 14 foot viking and the front part of the deck looked the same on both with the 15 footer changing some as it went to the rear. |
